The village of Marchiennes
The remains of the Banedictine Abbey including : the main entrance to the 1748 abbey, which now houses the Town Hall and the Museum of local History ; a monumental dovecote from 1754 ; 2nd gate to the abbey ; the former Dufour brewery, a major witness of the monks' activity en the area ; the old presbytery ; part of th old abbey dwelling ; some farm buildings dating fron the time of the abbey.
Marchiennes forest
The only forest in the district of Douai, the Marchiennes massif covers 800 hectares in the régional natural park of the Scarpe and Scheldt plains, and is protected by the National Forestry Office.
Its natural wealth and facilities make it an ideal place for relaxation and discovery all year long : walks, mountain biking or on horseback, picnic area, information panels...
You can observe the many species of trees such as beech, Scots pine or American red oak.
Respect the silence and you may have the chance to see foxes, weasels, deer, squirrels and many other living things...

Marchiennes local history museum
Located in the former jails of the bailiwick, the museum displays a multitude of objects and documents on the history of Marchiennes and its region (from prehistory to modern times).
Highlight of the visit : the relief map of the city as it was in 1791 and the sinister dungeons.
